Cash awards for junior players likely

AMBALA: Sports and Youth Affairs Minister Anil Vij on Tuesday said that the state government was going to make some changes in its sports policy and the players from the junior and sub-junior categories, who represent the nation, would also get cash awards.

Sports and Youth Affairs Minister Anil Vij on Tuesday said that the state government was going to make some changes in its sports policy and the players from the junior and sub-junior categories, who represent the nation, would also get cash awards.

The minister said the sports policy was being revised and the junior and sub-junior players from the state who represent the country would get cash awards. While the junior players would get 75 per cent, the sub-junior category players would get 50 per cent of what the senior players got as per the policy.

A proposal has been sent to the CM in this regard.

The minister said Haryana had the best sports policy in the country. The players who had won medals in Asian Games would soon get their rewards, he added. — TNS
