Chautala supporters to gather in Sirsa on December 20 to mark death anniversary

Thousands of supporters from across Haryana are expected to gather on December 20 to mark the first death anniversary of former Haryana Chief Minister Om Prakash Chautala, INLD leader and Rania MLA Arjun Chautala said on Monday.

The event will be held at Teja Khera farmhouse in Sirsa at 11 am. A 12-foot statue of Om Prakash Chautala will be unveiled at his memorial site during the programme.

Arjun Chautala was speaking at a meeting of Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) workers from the Ellenabad constituency at the party’s district office on Dabwali Road. The meeting was chaired by INLD district president Jasbir Singh Jassa.

Arjun Chautala said Om Prakash Chautala’s tenure as the Chief Minister marked a true period of development for Haryana, citing welfare schemes for farmers, workers, sportspersons, youth and traders. He said Chautala was widely known as the “Iron Man of Haryana” for his firm decisions and was still remembered as one of the state’s tallest leaders. He added that senior politicians from across the country and the state would also attend the December 20 event to pay tribute.

Addressing the meeting, Jassa said Om Prakash Chautala played a key role in strengthening the INLD organisation, which gained national recognition. He said the party continued to follow the path shown by Chaudhary Devi Lal and Om Prakash Chautala, and under INLD chief Abhay Singh Chautala, was working to secure rights for oppressed sections of society. Several INLD leaders and workers were present at the meeting.
