A team of CIA-I arrested an officer of HAFED, Anil Kumar, over alleged involvement in a paddy embezzlement case in Yamunanagar district.
Deputy Superintendent of Police, Jagadhri, Rajiv Miglani said that Anil was arrested on March 20.
He said that he was today produced before a court here. The court sent him to three-day police remand. Bribe money of Rs 1 lakh has been recovered from Anil.
On the other hand, Director General of Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs, Haryana, Anshaj Singh dismissed four staffers of the department on March 17 allegedly in connection with this paddy embezzlement case detected in several rice mills of Yamunanagar district.
According to the information available, all four officials were found guilty of “serious negligence” in inspection of paddy arrivals, storage and stock reconciliation.
The authorities of District Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs, Yamunanagar, and HAFED had got three FIRs registered on different dates in November 2025 against rice miller Sandeep Singla and his wife after short stock of allotted paddy was found in their seven rice mills located in Yamunanagar district.
On the directions of Superintendent of Police Kamaldeep Goyal, a Special Investigation Team (SIT) is investigating this case. The SIT has already arrested Sandeep Singla and a senior officer of HAFED in this case.
As per the record of District Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Controller, Yamunanagar, a total of 6,75,384 MT of paddy was procured in all 13 grain markets of the district till November 15, 2025 (the last paddy procurement day).
