CISF, UP Police shine at weightlifting cluster events

On the third day of the 3rd All India Police Weightlifting Cluster 2026–27, athletes from across the country competed in weightlifting, powerlifting and yoga events on Monday, delivering outstanding performances across categories.

In the men’s 74kg weightlifting category, Kiran Marathe of CISF clinched gold with an impressive display. Pravesh Baisoya of Uttar Pradesh Police took silver, while Mukul Sharma of SSB secured bronze.

The men’s 83kg powerlifting event saw intense competition, with Shubham Malik of UP Police lifting his way to gold. Gujarat Police secured silver, while Santosh of Maharashtra Police claimed bronze.

In the women’s 63kg weightlifting category, Saloni Singh produced a dominant performance to win gold for UP Police. Balon of BSF took silver, while Harjeet Kaur of CISF secured bronze. In the women’s 63kg powerlifting contest, Diksha Gupta won gold, Anu of CISF claimed silver, and Vinaya Rahul took bronze, a police official said.

In the women’s 69kg powerlifting category, Priyanka of Chandigarh Police secured gold, Pushpa won silver, and Mandeep took bronze.

Beyond strength events, yoga competitions also drew attention. In the senior men’s ‘A’ category, ITBP claimed gold, BSF took silver, and UP Police secured bronze.

UP Police also dominated the semi-final rounds of the senior men’s and women’s yoga categories to secure places in the finals.

Senior police officers, including Inspector General of Police Haryana Armed Police (HAP) Om Prakash Narwal, were present throughout the competitions and encouraged participants. Spectators witnessed closely fought contests and applauded the strong competitive spirit displayed by athletes from across the country.
