CJI Surya Kant to inaugurate Siwani court complex, Loharu expansion; address Bhiwani convocation

Chief Justice of India Justice Surya Kant is set to bring the justice system closer to the people of Bhiwani. The road to justice is poised to get shorter for residents who have long endured crowded, time-consuming journeys to distant courts. That grind is now likely to ease, with a new judicial complex coming up closer to where they live.

In a significant step towards strengthening judicial infrastructure in Haryana, the CJI will virtually lay the foundation stones of new court complex at Siwani and a residential complex for judicial officers at Tosham, during a day-long programme in Bhiwani on Saturday. At Loharu, the event will mark the inauguration of the first floor of an already existing judicial complex—an expansion aimed at augmenting capacity rather than creating a new access point.

Earlier in the day, the CJI will grace the 5^th convocation of Chaudhary Bansi Lal University at 12.15 pm, where he is expected to address the graduating students.

The foundation stone-laying and inauguration ceremonies will be held around 3 pm from the District Courts Complex, Bhiwani, with virtual linkage to the project sites. The projects assume significance in the backdrop of increasing litigation and the corresponding strain on existing infrastructure, particularly in districts where access to courts has traditionally involved long travel and delays.

By bringing courts closer to the people in Siwani and strengthening infrastructure at Tosham, the move is expected to ease access to justice, cut travel time for litigants and lawyers, and improve working conditions for judicial officers. The Loharu expansion is aimed at reducing congestion and enhancing functional capacity.

The programme will take place in the presence of Justice Sheel Nagu, along with Justice Ashwani Kumar Mishra, Justice Deepak Sibal, Justice Harsimran Singh Sethi, Justice Kuldeep Tiwari and Justice Shalini Singh Nagpal of the Punjab and Haryana High Court, besides members of the Bar. The Chief Justice of India is also slated to deliver a keynote address.

The initiative reflects a broader institutional emphasis on augmenting judicial capacity and infrastructure—an issue repeatedly flagged in judicial discourse as critical to timely justice delivery.
