CJI Surya Kant’s birthday celebrated in Rohtak; blood donation camp held

Chief Justice of India (CJI) Justice Surya Kant’s birthday was celebrated by the District Bar Association Rohtak at the Ch Ranbir Singh Auditorium on Tuesday. On the occasion, a 65-pound cake was cut.

A blood donation camp was also organised, in which advocates participated enthusiastically. Rohtak District and Sessions Judge Ajay Kumar Tewatia was the chief guest, who inaugurated the camp. Dr Vijender Ahlawat, former chairman of the Bar Council of Punjab and Haryana, were among those present on the occasion.

On the occasion, the District Bar Association, Rohtak, also announced that it will felicitate the CJI during his visit to Rohtak on February 14.

President Deepak Hooda said February 14 would be a memorable day as the CJI would address advocates in Rohtak and be honoured by the association as a mark of respect. Preparations for the visit are in full swing.

“As part of the celebrations, CJI Surya Kant’s 64th birthday was marked today at the Bar Association premises with a cake-cutting ceremony,” Hooda said.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr Ahlawat said that in the 75-year history of the Supreme Court, Justice Surya Kant is the first person from Haryana, who has assumed the office of Chief Justice of India. “Lawyers are enthusiastic about his felicitation ceremony on February 14,” he added.

Dr Ahlawat further noted that Justice Surya Kant began his legal career at the Hisar district courts after completing his LLB from Maharshi Dayanand University in 1984, before shifting to Chandigarh in 1985. He also holds the distinction of becoming the youngest Advocate General.
