Clean sweep for Karnal in surprise survey
Ahead of Swachh Survekshan 2025-26, ranked cleanest city in Haryana
Ahead of Swachh Survekshan 2025-26, Karnal has been ranked first in Haryana in an unannounced cleanliness survey conducted across all urban local bodies in the state. The survey was carried out under the directions of the state government to assess the actual ground-level sanitation conditions.
Sharing the information, Karnal Municipal Corporation (KMC) Commissioner Vaishali Sharma said that the Karnal Municipal Corporation secured the top position by scoring 7.5 out of 10 marks in the surprise inspection. She said the survey was conducted over the past one month across all municipal corporations, municipal councils and municipal committees in Haryana.
Sharma said the objective of the survey was to evaluate the real status of cleanliness in cities before the national-level Swachh Survekshan. The inspection was conducted on the basis of fixed parameters and Karnal emerged as the cleanest city in the state by securing the highest marks. In the survey results, the Rohtak Municipal Corporation secured the second position, while the Hisar Municipal Corporation stood third.
Sharma informed that the survey was conducted by the Chief Minister’s Good Governance Associates, who assessed cities on various cleanliness standards. The evaluation covered key aspects such as visible cleanliness in public areas, feedback from citizens, maintenance of community and public toilets, elimination of garbage-vulnerable points, performance of sanitation target units, door-to-door garbage collection and overall cleanliness of public places.
Mayor Renu Bala Gupta expressed happiness on the results of this survey. She appealed to the residents of the city to continue maintaining cleanliness so that the city could achieve a good rank in the national survey.
“We are happy that our city got the top position in the state in cleanliness. With the support of the local people, we will achieve the top rank in the country in Swachh Survekshan,” said Mayor.
