CM reviews budget spend, pushes time-bound rollout of PM-KUSUM
Deputy Commissioners told to monitor rooftop solar installations
Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini on Tuesday chaired a high-level review meeting to assess budget expenditure by various departments and the progress of key government schemes, directing officials to ensure time-bound and result-oriented implementation.
While reviewing the Energy Department’s schemes, the Chief Minister instructed officials to accelerate the solarisation of agricultural pumps across the state under the PM-KUSUM scheme. He emphasised that the scheme must be implemented in a time-bound manner to maximise benefits for farmers. He also directed that surplus power generated through solar pumps should be fed back into the government grid for optimum and judicious utilisation.
The Chief Minister further instructed officials to expedite the installation of rooftop solar systems on all government buildings, including bus stands, HAFED godowns and other government-owned infrastructure. Officials informed the meeting that surveys of 5,000 government buildings had already been completed and installation work was underway. The Chief Minister directed Deputy Commissioners to actively monitor and fast-track the implementation in their respective districts.
Reviewing the Transport Department, the Chief Minister asked officials to identify bus stands in poor condition and ensure their timely repair and maintenance.
During the review of the Industries Department, he directed officials to extend greater incentives to small industries and micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs). He emphasised the need for policies that promote entrepreneurship, particularly among women and economically weaker sections, to ensure inclusive economic growth.
Reviewing the Environment, Forests and Wildlife Department, the Chief Minister directed strict action against illegal felling of khair trees. He asked officials to intensify efforts to prevent deforestation, increase green cover and ensure proper marking of trees, with special focus on conservation in the Aravalli region.
During the review of the Foreign Cooperation Department, the Chief Minister directed officials to strengthen engagement with the diaspora and extend necessary support wherever required. He noted that the department was also working on programmes to teach foreign languages to students aspiring to study or work abroad.
While reviewing the Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Department, the Chief Minister described farmers as the backbone of Haryana’s economy and reiterated the government’s commitment to improving their productivity and income. He called for encouraging pulse cultivation and directed officials to frame a special policy to incentivise farmers growing pulses, stressing the need for Haryana to move towards self-reliance in pulse production in line with the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
He also emphasised greater promotion of organic farming and directed the department to design a dedicated scheme to support farmers adopting organic agricultural practices.
