CM Saini transfers ₹1,884 cr for pensions, crop insurance, welfare schemes

Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini on Monday transferred around Rs 1,884 crore to lakhs of beneficiaries across the state through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) under various welfare schemes.

Addressing a press conference here, the Chief Minister said the double-engine government in Haryana was working to empower farmers, women, youth and the poor. Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Minister Shyam Singh Rana was also present.

Saini said a day earlier, on the occasion of International Women’s Day, about Rs 1,357 crore under various women-centric schemes had been transferred to beneficiaries’ bank accounts during a state-level function in Sirsa.

“Today, an additional Rs 1,884 crore has been transferred,” he said.

Under the social security pension schemes of the SEWA Department, the government transferred Rs 842.92 crore directly to the accounts of 26.12 lakh beneficiaries, including those receiving old age allowance, disability allowance and other pensions.

The Chief Minister also announced the distribution of crop insurance claims for kharif 2025 under the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana.

“A total of Rs 711.69 crore has been transferred to the bank accounts of 1,67,460 farmers today. With this, farmers in the state have received a total of Rs 16,160 crore as crop compensation and insurance claims under the scheme over the past 11 years. In contrast, during the 10-year rule of the previous Congress government, only Rs 1,138 crore was released as compensation,” Saini said.

He added that the earlier government had left Rs 269 crore of farmers’ compensation pending, which the present government cleared after assuming office in 2014.

The Chief Minister further said the additional commission payable to arhtiyas had also been transferred. During the kharif procurement season 2025-26, around Rs 239.28 crore had already been paid.

Under a state decision to provide Rs 55 per quintal commission on wheat, paddy and bajra from the rabi-kharif season 2024-25, the government released the remaining amount above the commission fixed by the Centre.

Accordingly, Rs 56.97 crore was transferred to 11,199 arhtiyas across the state.

Saini said Rs 205.42 crore had been disbursed to 5,409 beneficiaries under the Dayalu Yojana, while Rs 67 crore was transferred to 12,353 families under the Housing for All scheme.

The Chief Minister said the government had adopted a proactive approach by introducing systemic changes, with eligibility now determined automatically through the Parivar Pehchan Patra (PPP) database.

“Eligibility is determined automatically on the basis of the PPP database, enabling eligible citizens to receive benefits without visiting offices or submitting applications, and directly at their homes,” he said.

He added that DBT payments reflected the government’s commitment to transparency and good governance, ensuring timely assistance to beneficiaries.
