Haryana CM to inaugurate Saraswati Mahotsav from Yamunanagar
Deputy Commissioner Preeti visits Adi Badri to take stock of preparations for mahotsav
Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini will inaugurate the International Saraswati Mahotsav (festival) from Adi Badri of Yamunanagar district on January 19.
On this occasion, a grand exhibition will be organised by the Haryana Directorate of Archaeology and Museums.
Besides holding a Saras Mela, a huge bhandara (community kitchen) will be organised and saints of Yamunanagar district will be specially invited on the occasion.
Dhuman Singh Kirmach, Vice Chairman, Saraswati Heritage Development Board, and Mukesh Garg, member, Haryana Electricity Regulatory Commission, jointly held a meeting with officials concerned in Adi Badri to ensure preparedness for the mahotsav.
Deputy Commissioner Preeti also visited Adi Badri today to take stock of preparations for the mahotsav.
At the meeting, Kirmach and Garg shared necessary guidelines for the grand celebration of the programme. Kirmach said Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini would formally inaugurate the International Saraswati Mahotsav, laying the foundation stone and inaugurating various development projects.
“The International Saraswati Mahotsav will commence from Adi Badri of Yamunanagar district on January 19 and conclude on January 23 at Saraswati Tirath Pehowa in Kurukshetra,” said Kirmach.
He said a havan, recitation of shlokas (verses), and aarti (sacred ritual) would be performed at Saraswati Sarovar. He further said the Archaeological Department would organise a grand exhibition to help the public understand that the Saraswati River was the most significant evidence of the Indus Valley Civilisation and its origin was at Adi Badri.
“This mahotsav/festival is being organised for the public. Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini will inspect the 350-acre reservoir being constructed by the Saraswati Heritage Development Board,” said Kirmach.
He said special performances would be given by college students who won first place in the Ratnavali programme.
“Saints from Yamunanagar district will be specially invited to the Saraswati Mahotsav. A Saras Mela based on the indigenous theme will be held at the Saraswati Sarovar in Adi Badri, which will be the main attraction of the festival,” said Kirmach.
He said that around 20 stalls would be set up by self-help groups at the Saras Mela.
The Deputy Commissioner said cultural programmes based on Saraswati would be presented by children from various schools. She said a painting competition would also be organised for school-level students. She directed officials to make proper arrangements for parking of vehicles, repair of roads and maintaining cleanliness.
Additional Deputy Commissioner Naveen Ahuja, Sub-Divisional Officer Jaspal Singh Gill, Under Training IAS Suman Yadav and other officials were also present on the occasion.
