The CM Window has taken action on a complaint regarding the ration card scam in Sirsa by marking a vigilance probe.

Bhupeshwar Dayal, OSD to the Chief Minister, said Prem Jain, a resident of Bhim Colony, had lodged a complaint against the District Food and Supplies Controller (DFSC), Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Department, Sirsa, alleging that officials and employees of the office were collecting fee for making corrections in about 30,000 ration cards and the said amount was not being deposited in the treasury.

Dayal further said that taking cognisance of the allegations, stringent action was taken by the CM’s office.

The DFSC, Sirsa, said that on January 19, 2021, an amount of Rs 38,800 was deposited by the department, but the CM Window was misled and the department was then asked to file the matter again with the window. It was also mentioned that an amount of Rs 8,88,935 was deposited as ration card fee by various offices of the district, said Dayal.

He said when the Chief Minister’s office (CMO) directly contacted the complainant, he said he was never involved in the investigation.

Dayal said later in the complaint, it was also stated that though in the matter, a recovery of Rs 16 to 17 lakh should have been made, only Rs 8.88 lakh had been recovered.

Later, a fresh complaint was filed on the window in which it was claimed that without investigating the allegations made against the District Manager, Confed, the inquiry officer had submitted a report to the CMO.

The matter was reviewed by Principal Secretary to Chief Minister V Umashankar and it was decided to mark a vigilance inquiry into the entire matter.
