Complete flood management works before rains, Sonepat DC instructs officials
Deputy Commissioner Manoj Kumar has directed the officials concerned to complete all developmental works related to flood management at the earliest, and to keep checking the quality of work so that all works can be completed before the onset of the monsoons for the convenience of the area residents.
The DC on Friday held a meeting of the Drought Relief and Flood Control Board. Officials of the Irrigation and Public Health Department were present during the meeting.
Kumar emphasised the need to ensure good quality of development works, and warned that action would be initiated against the official or contractor concerned if any complaint is received.
The DC reviewed works to resolve the problem of waterlogging in the Gohana area, and directed officials to pace up the work so that it is completed before the monsoons.
He also directed officials to make preparations and visit the waterlogged areas of Gohana. The Deputy Commissioner said the residents of Sisana village had been facing a lot of problems due to an overflowing pond. He directed officials install a pump at the pond to fix the issue.
He also asked officials to identify the reason for the pond overflowing so that a permanent solution to the issue could be implemented.
He directed officials to get the measurements of the drain crossing from Bhatgaon, and to deposit a report in this regard to the DC office before or on February 20.
He directed Irrigation Department officials to inspect the Yamuna to see if any repair work was needed.
