Karnal, April 23
Congress candidate Kuldeep Sharma filed his nomination papers here on Tuesday. Former Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda, who was scheduled to accompany him, was around 20 minutes late.
Sharma was accompanied by his wife and two former MLAs -- Rakesh Kamboj and Bhimsen Mehta. Party sources said Hooda got late as he had to file his nomination from Sonepat.
Sharma promised overall development and employment to the youth. “I will ensure overall development of Karnal and Panipat districts without any discrimination. I will provide jobs to the youth,” he said after filing his nomination.
He expressed the desire of making Karnal the capital of Haryana. “Karnal is the best city to be made the capital of the state,” he said.
He accused Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar of ignoring his constituency. He claimed that the Chief Minister did not take care of his constituency.
People of Karnal would teach Khattar a lesson by electing the Congress to power in the General Election and Assembly poll, asserted Sharma. He charged the BJP with disturbing social harmony.
