Amid a spate of murders and extortion threats in Rohtak, the Congress has announced that it will move an adjournment motion in the upcoming budget session of the Haryana Assembly beginning February 20.

Former Chief Minister and Leader of Opposition Bhupinder Singh Hooda made the announcement in Rohtak, alleging deterioration in law and order.

“Law and order in the state has collapsed, and people feel increasingly insecure. Only those whom no one wants to target can consider themselves safe. These are not mere allegations — Haryana ranks among the most unsafe states in the country, even according to reports of the Central Government. It is a complete failure of the BJP government,” he claimed.

Hooda said organised crime was expanding in the state. “More than 80-90 gangs are active in the state. The gangs commit crimes and then claim responsibility. It is imperative to eradicate these gangs,” he added.

Referring to an FIR against Guhla Cheeka MLA, he said, “When an MLA pointed out the government's failures by showing a rattle to an officer, an FIR was filed against him. Malicious action against MLAs will not be tolerated.”

Citing recent incidents, including three murders in four days and multiple extortion threats, Hooda said, “Improving law and order and instilling public confidence are essential for progress. However, under BJP rule, there is an atmosphere of fear among the people because the government is weak.”
