He could face competition if the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) decides to field a third candidate.
Baudh arrived at the filing venue accompanied by party MLAs, Rajya Sabha MP Randeep Singh Surjewala, and Leader of Opposition Bhupinder Singh Hooda.
Hooda had hosted a breakfast meeting at his residence to introduce Baudh to all MLAs.
Talking to reporters, Baudh said he was unfazed by the possibility of a third BJP candidate. He described Rahul Gandhi as a “Jannayak” for choosing a grassroots worker like him.
“Had BR Ambedkar not been there, I would not have been able to reach here,” he added.
Baudh, known for mobilising Dalit organisations after the suicide of Dalit IPS officer Y Puran Kumar, said that all MLAs were present at Hooda’s residence and asserted, “There is no chance of cross-voting.”
Considered a neutral figure within the party, Baudh is known as a committed grassroots worker.
