Court awards life term to nine accused in murder case
The court of Additional District and Sessions Judge Sunita Grover has sentenced nine accused in a murder case to life imprisonment. Additionally, it has also imposed a fine of Rs 29,500 on each convict. One of the accused, Baljeet, passed away during the court proceedings.
The district police spokesman said Ishwar Singh of Hansavas had been living with his maternal uncle in Baghpur village. In August 2018, Ishwar visited his village Hansavas to bring Kavad. On August 3, 2018, while returning home from Gurawada village on a motorcycle with his friends, a group of 8-10 youths on motorcycles intercepted them near the railway gate. The youths attacked Ishwar due to old enmity, leading to his death, he added.
“Following the incident, Deepak of Hansavas filed a complaint with the Rohdai police station, which led to the registration of a murder case against the accused, identified as Deepak, Baljeet, Rinkpal alias Rinku, Dheer Singh alias Dheeraj, Rohtas, Laxman, Devendra alias Kala alias Debu, Narbir alias Hathi, Parvinder alias Chhotu, and Murari. All the accused were later arrested,” said the spokesman.
He said on completion of the investigation, the Rohdai police station filed a chargesheet against the accused, presenting evidence and witness statements in court. During the trial, one of the accused, Baljeet, passed away. However, the court found the remaining nine accused guilty of the murder of Ishwar Singh, he added.
