Covid spreads its tentacles in rural areas

Rural areas of Haryana were safe from the first wave of corona, despite the fact that residents blatantly flouted Covid norms.

Rural areas of Haryana were safe from the first wave of corona, despite the fact that residents blatantly flouted Covid norms. This underestimation has led to the second wave reaching the rural belt. Many villages of Haryana, Hisar and Rohtak in particular, have seen several deaths. The virus is feared to spread faster in rural areas given the poor sanitation conditions and scarcity of medical infrastructure. The obedience to basic preventive protocols should not be overlooked and the state should also adopt equitable parameters for rural and urban pockets. Baljeet Singh Deep, Hisar

Faridabad online portal a curse for tax payers

Since the inception, Faridabad property tax portal online has been problematic for tax payers. Most common problem is the change of gender, which affects women as their 50 per cent tax rebate is not shown and the portal shows full tax. The authorities must look in to the issue and solve it at the earliest. Dolly Moga, Faridabad

Stop issuing paper electricity bills to consumers, go digital

As responsible citizens, it is our duty to stop causing further damage to our environment through injudicious use of paper. As such, keeping pace with the digital technology, the UHBVNL and DHBVNL should stop physical delivery of paper bills, instead, bills through SMS and e-mail should be introduced. Consumers should be intimated to update their contact information i.e., mobile numbers and e-mail IDs for bill payment through the online portal. Ramit Bagga, Panchkula
