Crime & drugs have tarnished Haryana’s image: Abhay Chautala
He said the BJP had promised to double farmers’ income and implement the recommendations of the Swaminathan Commission, but it had failed to fulfil its commitments
INLD national president Abhay Singh Chautala on Monday alleged that crime and drug abuse had increased continuously under the BJP government, damaging Haryana’s image across the country. He said people from all sections of society were unhappy with the government’s policies and wanted a change.
Addressing a joint meeting of INLD office-bearers and workers from Sirsa and Kalanwali constituencies, Chautala accused the BJP of going back on its promises made to farmers.
He said the BJP had promised to double farmers’ income and implement the recommendations of the Swaminathan Commission, but it had failed to fulfil its commitments. He alleged that farmers were being forced to use biometric authentication to sell their produce.
Chautala claimed that the INLD had launched protests against policies affecting farmers and had also forced the government to restore old-age pensions after it tried to stop them.
He alleged that the BJP wanted to benefit industrialists such as Mukesh Ambani and Gautam Adani by weakening traditional grain markets. Calling upon party workers to mobilise people for the birth anniversary celebrations of former Deputy Prime Minister Chaudhary Devi Lal in Nuh on September 27, Chautala asked them to ensure maximum participation from Sirsa and Kalanwali.
Taking a dig at Congress leader Bhupinder Singh Hooda, Chautala said the BJP got an opportunity to form the government in Haryana for a third consecutive term because 14 Congress leaders allegedly voted for the BJP during the Rajya Sabha election.
He also alleged that over 10 scams had taken place during the BJP rule, but no one had been punished. INLD state president Rampal Majra also urged workers to make the Devi Lal birth anniversary programme a historic event.
