Death toll in Faridabad factory fire rises to 4
The four were among 37 people injured in the fire that broke out on Monday at a factory in Faridabad
Two more people injured in the factory fire in the Mujesar area have died, taking the death toll to four.
The deceased have been identified as probationary sub-inspector Ravi Kumar (33), a resident of Kaithal district, and fire brigade employee Bhavichand (48), a resident of Faridabad. Both succumbed to their injuries at Delhi’s Safdarjung Hospital.
Ravi was posted at the Mujesar police station.
Earlier, Abhishek Monga (37), son of factory owner Vijay Monga, and Pradeep Kumar (21), a factory worker, had died during treatment at Safdarjung Hospital on Thursday night.
The four were among 37 people injured in the fire that broke out on Monday at the Kalkaji Lubricants and Shiv Steel Company workshop. The blaze reportedly started when a spark fell into a drum filled with chemicals, triggering a series of explosions.
Vijay Monga, who has been booked in connection with the incident, was also injured and is undergoing treatment at a Delhi hospital.
Police have registered a case against the owners and managers of the Kalkaji Lubricants and Shiv Steel factories. On the orders of the district deputy commissioner, a seven-member team led by the Badhkal sub-divisional magistrate has been constituted to investigate the incident.
Those who suffered minor burns have been treated and discharged, while the remaining injured are undergoing treatment at various hospitals.
