The Public Works Department (PWD) on Wednesday halted the tile laying work at the e-Disha Kendra on the premises of the Mini Secretariat here. The work was stopped on the directions of Rural Development and Panchayat Minister Om Prakash Dhankar. The minister had during an inspection on Monday found that the tiles were being laid on granite floor at the kendra.

Questions are also being raised on the inspection report of an Executive Engineer (XEN), Provisional Division (PWD), wherein he observed that the granite flooring was damaged and faded at various places. However, the minister found the granite flooring in good condition.

The work was started after an inspection report submitted by the XEN to the authorities concerned stated: “The electrical/IT, wiring/conduit lines are to be laid by removing the granite flooring at various places. The granite flooring will be dismantled completely before laying new granite, which will be uneconomical.”

The e-Disha Kendra was being renovated by the PWD for the past few days.
