Mahendragarh: Central University of Haryana (CUH) in collaboration with Association of Microbiologists of India (AMI) organised a symposium on ‘Recent Development in Microbiology’ on Tuesday.

Mahendragarh: Central University of Haryana (CUH) in collaboration with Association of Microbiologists of India (AMI) organised a symposium on ‘Recent Development in Microbiology’ on Tuesday. Underlining the significance of microbiology in day to day life, Vice Chancellor (VC) Prof RC Kuhad said there was an urgent need to sensitise students about the vital role of micro-organisms through outreach programmes. Prof Rup Lal, Prof S Virdi from Delhi University and Prof Prince Sharma from Punjab University shared their experience with the participants and also updated them about new developments in the field of microbiology.

‘Save water’ campaign held  

Karnal: As an endeavour to save water, Karnal Municipal Corporation (KMC) organised a water conservation awareness campaign at Pratap Public School, Sector 6. KMC commissioner Rajeev Mehta and Mayor Renu Bala Gupta inspired students and the gathering to save water. Thought provoking speech on the topic ‘Water is life, if there is water, there is future’ and ‘Save water’ enthralled the audience. President of the school Ajay Bhatia and vice-president Deepika Bhatia were also present at the event and a rainwater harvesting system was inaugurated. 

Varsity’s academic block on anvil

Bhiwani: RSS ideologue Indresh Kumar has laid the foundation stone of an academic block in Chaudhary Bansi Lal University (CBLU) here. Education Minister Ram Bilas Sharma, Bhiwani-Mahendragarh MP Dharambir Singh and university Vice-chancellor Rajkumar Mittal were present on the occasion. Addressing students, Kumar said: “A university plays a major role in nation-building as it is a stepping stone to the next generation of a nation.”

Hariyali Teej celebrated

Yamunanagar: Tilak Raj Chadha Institute of Management and Technology (TIMT), Yamunanagar and an NGO — Only Daughters' Parents Association — held a programme of ‘Hariyali Teej’ in the TIMT campus. NGO president Braham Dutt Sharma said Randhir Chaudhry, president of Shahid Bhagat Singh Morcha was the chief guest in the programme. On this occasion director of TIMT Vikas Daryal, brand ambassador of Yamunanagar district of 'Beti Bachao Beti Padhao' Alka Garg and others were also present.
