Dhaba operator shot dead over old rivalry in Pataudi; 5 booked

Family members of the deceased and other residents of Jatoli village block road to seek justice

A dhaba operator was allegedly shot dead in Pataudi late last night over an old rivalry over a murder in 2020. An FIR was registered against five accused at the Pataudi police station.

After the incident, family members of the deceased and some other people blocked a road at Jatoli mod to express their anger. A police team reached the spot and pacified the protesters by assuring them that the accused would be arrested soon.

According to the police, the incident took place Tuesday midnight when the dhaba operator Jitender, aka Monu, resident of Jatoli village, along with his worker Mahender was at the dhaba. In the meantime, some people came there and one of them fired at Jitender, who died on the spot. They also attacked Mahender when he intervened.

On the complaint of the deceased's brother Rohit, an FIR has been registered against Ritik, Amit, Rohit, Jai Bhagwan and Vikas, residents of Jatoli at Pataudi police station.

A spokesperson for the Gurugram police said that the cause behind the murder was an old rivalry.

“In 2020, Inderjeet, uncle of accused Ritik and Amit, was murdered by the deceased's brother Rohit who was lodged in jail in the murder case. To take revenge of murder, the accused shot dead the dhaba operator. We are conducting raids to nab the accused,” said the spokesperson.
