Dr Archana Gupta appointed new Haryana BJP president
Dr Gupta is the second woman to become the state president of the BJP after 43 years. Earlier, Dr Kamla Verma was the state president from 1980 to 1983
The BJP has appointed its Haryana general secretary Dr Archana Gupta as its new state president on Thursday. Gold medallist in radiology Dr Archna Gupta will take over the charge from Mohan Badoli.
Dr Gupta is the second woman to become the state president of the BJP after 43 years. Earlier, Dr Kamla Verma was the state president from 1980 to 1983.
Born in Samalkha of Panipat, Dr Archna Gupta runs a diagnostic centre here. Her grandfather Lala Sooraj Bhan of Atta village was a freedom fighter. She is MBBS, MD in Radiology.
She joined the Vishwa Hindu Parishad and launched an “Indian Health Line” from Panipat. After the BJP came to power in 2014, she started participating actively in BJP affairs.
Dr Gupta was appointed the district president of Mahila Morcha (woman wing) of the BJP in 2016. After that, she actively participated in organisational work. Following her performance, the BJP has appointed her as BJP’s district president on August 19, 2020. Dr Gupta was the second woman district president.
Dr Gupta was the first party district president who took the initiative to connect the villagers with the party and also formed village-level committees to strengthen the party at village level. During her tenure as district president, Panipat was always on number one during the internal assessment of the party. She participated in the meetings of the party, training camps and the party's state affairs.
Due to her hard work towards the party, the BJP appointed her state general secretary on January 3, 2024.
Apart from political participation, Dr Gupta is also active in social, religious programmes. She also helped scores of people during the Covid pandemic as a doctor.
