Dr Nidhi Mahendru appointed chairman of Clean Water Committee of Microbiologists Society
Guru Nanak Khalsa College biotechnology professor to lead nationwide initiatives on clean water awareness and sustainable water management
Dr Nidhi Mahendru, Assistant Professor and Head of the Department of Biotechnology at Guru Nanak Khalsa College, Yamunanagar, has been appointed Chairman of the Microbiologists Society, India, for the academic year 2026–2027.
The appointment recognises her contributions to biotechnology, microbiology, environmental sustainability and academic leadership.
In her new role, Dr Mahendru will spearhead initiatives focused on clean water awareness, sustainable water management, environmental conservation and scientific outreach among students, researchers and academicians across the nation.
Earlier, she served as Haryana State President of the Microbiologists Society for the academic year 2025–2026, where she worked to promote scientific awareness, research collaborations and academic excellence.
Expressing gratitude for the appointment, Dr Mahendru thanked the Society’s leadership for reposing confidence in her and said she would continue working towards creating awareness about clean water and environmental sustainability.
Congratulating her, Principal Dr Arvinder Singh Bhalla said that the appointment was a matter of pride for the college. He remarked that Dr Mahendru’s dedication to academics, research, and social responsibility continued to bring distinction to the college at the national level.
Sardar Randeep Singh Jauhar, President of the Governing Body and Managing Committee, also congratulated Dr Mahendru. He appreciated her efforts in promoting scientific excellence and acknowledged her contribution in bringing laurels to the institution through her academic and professional accomplishments.
