Dream big, work hard to succeed, say civil services exam toppers

Sons of welder, farmer clear Union Public Service Commission exam

Several local youths coming from ordinary backgrounds have cracked the prestigious Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) Civil Services Examination, the result of which was declared today.

These youths have not only realised dreams of their families, but also inspired many others like them who aspire to make it big in life.

“Dream big and work hard to achieve your goal. There is no shortcut to success,” says Karan Yadav, who has got 750th rank in the Civil Services Examination.

Karan’s father Ramesh Chand is a welder and mother Sharmila a homemaker. “I studied consistently for eight to 10 hours daily and achieved this big day,” says Karan.

Nitish Kumar, a differently abled youth from Khatoti Sultanpur village in the district, has also cleared the Civil Services exam. Son of Shardha Nand, a farmer, and Kela Devi, a housewife, Nitish secured the all-India 847 rank in the Civil Services exam. Nitish studied at the Government School, Khatoti Sultanpur village, CL Public School, Krishan Nagar, and at Government College, Narnaul.

“My journey was not easy and required years of dedication and perseverance. I appeared for the interview twice, but success came to me in the fifth attempt,” Nitish told The Tribune.

Tejvir, son of Dalip Singh of Dongra Ahir village in the district, has also cleared the UPSC Civil Services Examination by securing the 476th rank. “I have been able to clear this exam by virtue of hard work,” he maintains.

Manjeet Singh of Kanwali village in Rewari district cleared the UPSC exam and secured the 490th rank. Manjeet’s father is an ASI with the Delhi Police. His family is presently settled in Delhi. Manjeet attributed his success to hard work, dedication and strong will power, maintaining that there was no shortcut to success.
