Chandigarh, October 10
The Election Commission of India (ECI) has ordered the transfer of 10 Public Relations officials — six District Public Relations Officers (DPROs) and four Assistant Public Relations Officers (APROs) — posted for more than three years at one station or in their home district in violation of the election code. The announcement was made by Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Sunil Arora at a press conference here today. He was accompanied by Election Commissioners Ashok Lavasa and Sushil Chandra.
“The process is on for the transfer. The Public Relations Department had itself identified these officials and the complaint by the Jannayak Janata Party (JJP) in this regard is incidental,” Chief Electoral Officer Anurag Agarwal explained.
The CEC said he had sought a report on a complaint against a School Education Department official posted in a district for more than three years. “Every Assembly constituency in Haryana will have five polling stations with VVPAT machines,” he said.
Arora said the commission had deployed the maximum number of companies of central forces this time.
