Students help elderly voters



Sonepat: The inter-college zonal youth festival this year will be organised at the Tika Ram Girls College from November 4 to 6. In a meeting on Sunday, college Principals and cultural heads of colleges were asked to submit details of their cultural teams and events in which they would participate by October 31 to the organising committee. Dr Monika Verma, Principal, Tika Ram Girls College, said that the slogan of this zonal youth festival would be ‘plastic-free India’ and the results of the events would be announced the same day.

Famous Singer performs at school 

Faridabad: Acclaimed singer Shubha Mudgal mesmerised the audience with her soulful performance at Shiv Nadar School here recently. Mudgal, a vocal proponent of integrating performing arts with mainstream school education, sang some popular pop-fusion numbers like ‘Tere Baanke Nainon’, ‘Seekho Na’ and ‘Ab Ke Sawan’. The concert was attended by over 700 parents and teachers from the school. 

Students help elderly voters 

Faridabad: Students of Government Adarsh Senior Secondary School, Sarai Khwaja, Sector 37 here, helped elderly and differently abled voters cast their votes here on Monday. These students, who are members of the Junior Red Cross and St John Ambulance Brigade, reached the designated places outside the polling stations. While a wheelchair was arranged for old voters, the volunteers helped them cast their vote without difficulty.

Central varsity holds conference

Mahendragarh: Central University of Haryana (CUH) organised an international Geographical Union-India International Conference over ‘Heading towards zero: Sustainable development in economy, environment and society’. President of the International Geographical Union (IGU), Japan, Prof Yukio Himiyama, inaugurated the conference and said such conferences proved useful in discussing environmental issues and taking measures towards concrete solutions. 

Kaithal shines at yoga event 

Kaithal: The School Games Federation of India (SGFI) organised a state-level yoga competition in Bhim stadium of Bhiwani recently. All yoga teams from the districts participated in under-11 and under-14 boys and girls competitions. The Kaithal district team comprising Himanshu Garg, Vansh Goel, Jatin and Shivank won the u-14 boys gold. The under-11 team comprising Parth, Hardik and Rudra Raj Rana won the silver medal. Himanshu Garg was selected to represent Haryana in the yoga competition which will be held in Kolkata.
