Gurugram, November 15
Gurugram police have rescued a 16-year-old girl who was illegally employed as domestic help by a doctor in Sector 65.
The girl who hails from Jharkhand had allegedly eloped with a youth who had promised to marry her, but sold her to a 'maid manager' who employed her here a few months ago.
The police action came following a tip-off from a local NGO. The girl claimed that she had been looking ways to get back home but had no access to anybody outside or any forms of communication.
"She got a chance today and called childline number which she had seen written on an autorickshaw. NGO Shakti Vahini called police and we rescued the girl who has been sent to shelter home. The child is under observation and being comforted. She has so far not revealed anything about her treatment at hand of employers who claim they hired her from
maid agency and were lied about her age," said Police PRO Subhash Bokan.
