The driver of a tractor-trailer allegedly tried to run over members of the Haryana State Enforcement Bureau during an operation against illegal mining in Yamunanagar district.
The incident occurred near Bhilpura-76 village in the Pratap Nagar block when the Enforcement Bureau team attempted to stop a tractor-trailer loaded with illegal mining material during a patrol in the early hours of January 23.
According to the complaint filed by Assistant Sub-Inspector Narinder Singh, the team was checking vehicles at around 1 am when the tractor-trailer arrived at the spot. On seeing the team, the driver attempted to flee towards Bhilpura village.
The team chased and intercepted the vehicle inside the village. “The driver of the tractor tried to run over team members, forcing them to jump aside to save their lives. The accused also rammed the tractor-trailer into the vehicle of our team in an attempt to escape, causing damage to the official car,” the complainant told the police.
The ASI further stated that family members of the accused, including women, gathered at the spot and tried to obstruct official action. The driver allegedly used abusive language and issued threats, claiming he would not allow the tractor-trailer to be seized.
Based on the complaint, a case has been registered at Pratap Nagar police station against Muntzeer alias Bhura, Anwar and others, all residents of Bhilpura-76 village, under Sections 109(1), 121(1) and 132 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
