About 5K youths from Haryana get enrolled in the Army every year. But if the scheme is implemented, recruitment from the state will come down to only 963. Deepender Hooda, Congress MP

Congress MP Deepender Hooda addressed the protesters and demanded that the Union Government should immediately withdraw the Agnipath scheme as the scheme was neither in the interest of the army nor the youth of the country.

Hooda said: “About 5,000 youths from Haryana get enrolled in the Army every year. But after this scheme, recruitment from the state will come down to only 963. After four years, only 240 Agniveers will be confirmed and 722 Agniveers will be moved out of government jobs. This will severely affect the youths of the country.”
