Faridabad, November 6

Ten major roads in the city have been selected to be developed as smart roads. Two of these will be developed under the Smart City project and eight developed by the municipal corporation (MC).

Two main roads connecting the national highway (Mathura road) with the bypass on the eastern side, about 2.5 km long each, will be developed under the Smart City project.

The roads connecting Old Faridabad with the bypass and Badkhal Chowk with the bypass will be covered under the Smart City project, which has a budget of Rs2,601 crore.

The MC has prepared a plan to develop eight other roads, which will be equipped with free Wi-Fi, cycle tracks, greenery on both sides, state-of-the-art bus stops, LED lights and pedestrian footpaths.

“The selection of roads has been done on the basis of importance and density of commuters,” said DR Bhaskar, MC Chief Engineer.

He said the budget was being worked out and the target was to complete the work in six months after the date of launch.
