A man was on Tuesday booked for killing his five-day-old daughter in Roopnagar colony of the Badhi Majra area of Yamunanagar.
A case has been registered against the accused, Neeraj, under Section 302 IPC at the Sadar police station. Neeraj was annoyed with his wife as she had given birth to a girl.
In her complaint, Varsha, 24, said her husband came to her room at night and lied beside the newborn. “My husband is a drunkard. He came home drunk on Monday night and pressed our daughter severely, killing her on the spot,” Varsha alleged. She said she had married Neeraj in 2015 and he was annoyed with her as she had no child even after several years of marriage. “I gave birth to a girl on September 24,” she said. — TNS
