Five-day Saraswati Mahotsav from Jan 18

KURUKSHETRA: Ambala division Commissioner Vivek Joshi today chaired a meeting to discuss preparations for the five-day International Saraswati Mahotsav to be held from January 18 to 22.

Ambala division Commissioner Vivek Joshi today chaired a meeting to discuss preparations for the five-day International Saraswati Mahotsav to be held from January 18 to 22. The festival will be held at Pehowa town of the district.

Joshi said a special function would be held at Adi Badri in Yamunanagar on January 18. He said water from 209 rivers fropm across the country would be brought to Pehowa for rituals. As many as 150 stalls would be set up during the mahotsav.

DC Sumedha Kataria said the main aim of the festival was to promote Pehowa as tourist destination. She said an international conference would be held from January 19 to 22 at Kurukshetra University to deliberate upon issued related to the Saraswati. Meanwhile, official sources said the state authorities were making efforts to invite Dalai Lama and other spiritual leaders.s
