Five months later, no action in Faridabad ‘land grab’ case

In an alleged land grabbing case, the police have failed to take action even after registering an FIR five months ago.

A case under Sections 120-B, 371, 406, 420, 448 and 506 of the IPC was registered against Suresh Goyal, president, and Ramashankar Singh, secretary, Akhil Bhartiya Sant Mat Satsangh Samiti, on April 25 this year.

“Being a member of Satsangh Ashram Society, owned by Akhil Bhartiya Sant Mat Satsangh Samiti, at Anangpur village, I had built a house on 200-yard plot in the housing society in 2013. But in 2016, all 105 members were told that they were no more the owner of the properties due to changes in the terms and conditions of the land deed. The members were told that they were only lease holders (tenants) for a period of 30 years,” said Hari Om Gupta, a resident of Ghaziabad. He said that they found that the land deed was changed frequently by samiti president Suresh Goyal and secretary Ramashankar Singh.

Claiming that all those who opposed and failed to sign the new agreement were threatened to leave the society, he said, “While locks of our houses were broken and precious items were stolen, our entry was banned in October 2016.”

Alleging that representations to the authorities, including the Assistant Registrar (Cooperative Societies), went unheard, he said 12 members who protested were forcibly ousted from their houses.

“Valuables worth Rs 2 lakh were stolen from my house,” claims JP Aggarwal (75), one of the complainants.

He said a case under Sections 120-B, 371, 406, 420, 448 and 506 of the IPC was registered against Goyal and Singh on April 25 this year on the recommendation of an SIT in February 2018.

He said a complaint was also lodged at the CM Window earlier.

Charging the accused of changing the contents of the lease deed in order to grab land worth Rs 70 crore, he said the society was spread over 10.5 acres. The society came up in 1980.

Vishal Kumar, SHO, Surajkund police station, said that investigation was on in the case.
