Five of family killed as vehicle falls into Ganga

Five members of a family died in an accident in Meerut while on way to holiday in Haridwar.

A vehicle carrying 11 people fell into Ganga at Jatpur village. Residents from nearby villagers rescued five occupants, while five others died. A woman is still missing and divers are looking for her.

The five survivors were admitted to the district hospital. Police also arrived on the spot and rushed rescued people to hospital. 

“Eleven members of a family were going to Haridwar from Gurugram in a car on Saturday morning. The driver of the vehicle lost control and fell into the deep waters,” Avinash Padey, SP, (rural) said.
