The Haryana Government is going to mark another milestone with Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar inaugurating air shuttle services from Hisar airport on September 3.

A spokesman of the Civil Aviation Department said that Haryana would become the first state in the country to take the special initiative for the enhancement of regional connectivity by inviting proposals from air operators for air shuttle services through fiscal support on the guidelines of the Centre’s regional connectivity scheme UDAN (Ude Desh ka Aam Nagrik).

He said that a large flight training organisation is also being set up at Hisar airport by SpiceJet for the training of at least 100 cadet pilots per year initially.

Four meritorious girls with Haryana domicile will get 50 per cent fee concession for the entire training and 10 per cent students with Haryana domicile will get 50 per cent waiver on tuition fee. SpiceJet has also committed to ensuring absorption as well as placement of 70 per cent pilot trainees.

He said that with its efforts in the civil aviation sector, the state government is committed to the infrastructural development of existing airports in the state. Runway extension work of Hisar airport from 4,000 ft to 10,000 ft is likely to commence soon to enable larger aircrafts like Airbus A-320 to land at Hisar.

The feasibility study for the development of four other airfields namely Karnal, Bhiwani, Narnaul and Pinjore has already been undertaken to utilise these airfields not only for air connectivity but also to establish multipurpose hub.

Simultaneously, a draft DPR has been prepared by the Airports Authority of India for the future development of international passenger and cargo airport, aviation academy and aerospace and defence industry, he added.

He said that Integrated Aviation Hub at Hisar (IAHH) is a mega project of the Haryana Government which is being executed under the flagship of the Civil Aviation Department in a phased manner.

The phase-I of the project was finished in record time by establishing the first Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA)-licensed aerodrome of the state and terminal building at Hisar airport.
