Focus on research, startups at Kurukshetra varsity board meeting

A meeting of the Academic Planning Board was convened at Kurukshetra University under the chairmanship of Vice-Chancellor Prof Som Nath Sachdeva, where key issues related to academic innovation, research expansion and industry-academia collaboration were deliberated in detail.

The meeting emphasised the need to align the university’s academic framework with the objectives of the National Education Policy 2020, focusing on flexibility, multidisciplinary learning and research-oriented education.

The Vice-Chancellor highlighted the importance of skill-based and employment-oriented education, strengthening digital learning infrastructure, and expanding international academic partnerships.

Dr Jimmy Sharma, deputy director, Public Relations, Kurukshetra University, said that during the meeting, a monograph titled ‘IPR Law and IPR Management’ authored by Dr Dhanpat Ram Agrawal was formally released.

Participants, including Vice-Chancellor of Chaudhary Charan Singh Haryana Agricultural University, Prof Baldev Raj Kamboj; Vice-Chancellor of Gurugram University, Dr Sanjay Kaushik; and founder and managing partner of Agarwal Maheswari and Company, Dr Dhanpat Ram Agarwal, shared valuable insights on enhancing quality, fostering innovation, promoting startup culture and strengthening industry-academia partnerships in higher education.

The key decisions taken during the meeting included the introduction of new professional and skill-based courses, encouragement of research projects, improving transparency and efficiency in the examination system, and strengthening coordination with affiliated colleges.

The meeting concluded with a collective commitment from all members to elevate the academic standards of the university and to work dedicatedly towards the holistic development of students.

Senior university officials, including Registrar Prof Virender Pal, Dean Academic Affairs Prof Rakesh Kumar, Dean of Colleges Prof Brajesh Sawhney, Dean, Research and Development, Prof Sanjeev Agrawal, Prof Manjula Chaudhary, Prof Dinesh Kumar, along with other members, were also present.
