For alliance, INLD in touch with BJP

CHANDIGARH: Facing desertion by MLAs after a split in the party and its poor performance in the Jind bypoll, the Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) is in touch with the BJP for an alliance for the parliamentary poll.

Chandigarh, March 25

Facing desertion by MLAs after a split in the party and its poor performance in the Jind bypoll, the Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) is in touch with the BJP for an alliance for the parliamentary poll.

Parminder Singh Dhull, INLD MLA from Julana Assembly segment of Jind, today confirmed that the party had sent feelers to the BJP for an alliance and while senior leaders of the saffron party at the centre were not averse to a tie-up, the ones in the state were not keen on it.

He, however, said the talks had not ended and the latest on the issue would be known in the next two or three days.

When asked who had initiated the talks, Dhull said party patriarch Om Prakash Chautala had spoken to Home Minister Rajnath Singh and the response of the central leadership of the BJP was “very positive”. — TNS
