Ambala, February 7
Beneficiaries of the Public Distribution System at Shahzadpur and Ambala City have started getting fortified flour.
The scheme was launched from Naraingarh and Barara in March last year.
District Food and Supplies Controller Nishant Rathee said, “The distribution of fortified flour has been started in Ambala City and Shahzadpur areas. The beneficiaries in the remaining parts, including Saha, Ambala Cantonment, Nanyola and Kesri, will start getting fortified flour within the next 10 days.”
There is a contract between Hafed and millers. Tenders had been issued to four mills in Ambala to prepare fortified flour, supplemented with iron, folic acid and vitamin B12. Fortified flour is good for children and expectant mothers.
