Palwal, July 5
Four persons, allegedly involved in looting ATMs, were arrested at Kithwari chowk in Palwal on the intervening night of Monday and Tuesday. The police claimed they recovered Rs 29.64 lakh, three country-made pistols, an ATM gas-cutter kit and two vehicles from them.
The accused have been identified as Nisar , Nasim, Mohammed, all residents of Punhana in Nuh district, and Gopal of Gaddi Patti in Hodal subdivision, Palwal.
CIA Inspector Vishwa Gaurav said they had received a tip-off following which a naka was set up at Kithwari chowk. He said they stopped two vehicles, a Maruti Suzuki Baleno and an Eicher canter truck, in which the accused were travelling. On searching the vehicles, the police found the cash and other equipment used in robberies.
Three of the accused were carrying loaded country-made pistols, Gaurav added. He added an amount of Rs 1.14 lakh was lying in a burnt condition.
The police said on questioning, the accused said they had looted the cash from an ATM in Rangia, Assam.
