Gangster arrested following encounter in Rohtak
The SP claims that the gangster is the mastermind behind the murder of Dinesh alias Goga
The Rohtak police arrested a gangster following a brief encounter on the Simli-Baland Link Road on Tuesday evening.
Sahil alias Sukha of Ritoli village, sustained a bullet injury to his leg and was admitted to PGIMS Rohtak.
A country-made pistol and two cartridges were recovered from him.
Superintendent of Police Surendra Bhoria said preliminary investigation revealed that Sahil is the key leader of a notorious gang operating in the region. “He is the mastermind behind the murder of Dinesh alias Goga. The crime was carried out with the help of his accomplices. The other accused involved in the case have been identified, and raids are on to arrest them,” he said.
Dinesh alias Goga, a resident of Sonepat district, was gunned down by unidentified assailants near the IGP office on Monday evening. The attackers reportedly opened indiscriminate fire at close range and fled after killing him on the spot.
The SP said police teams had been conducting raids to apprehend those involved. “Acting on a tip-off, the CIA-1 staff signalled a suspicious youth to stop on Shimli-Baland Road. However, he opened fire at the police team. The police asked him to surrender and fired in the air,” Bhoria said.
He added that while acting in self-defence, the police chased the accused and fired at his leg, injuring him. He was shifted to PGIMS Rohtak. A case has been registered against him at Shivaji Colony police station for attempt to murder, illegal possession and use of firearms, obstructing a public servant in discharge of duty, and other related offences.
