GATE cheating racket busted in Raipur; Haryana mountaineer among 6 arrested
Bluetooth devices hidden in shoes used to leak questions to outside solvers; Raipur Police term it a ‘big expose’
Mountaineer Narendra Kumar a resident of Mingni Khera village in Hisar, who is also associated with the Fit India Movement was arrested on Sunday for cheating in an examination.
He is among the six people from Haryana who were arrested by the Chhattisgarh police on charges of indulging in cheating during the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) in Chhattisgarh’s capital Raipur.
The Raipur police posted a video of the arrested individuals on X.

Terming the incident as a ‘big expose’, the police claims to have busted the National-level GATE examination cheating racket. Electronic devices which were used to facilitate cheating have been seized. Teams from the DD Nagar police station and the Anti-Crime and Cyber Unit (ACCU) - under DCP West Zone led the operation.
According to the police, three candidates entered the exam hall with Bluetooth devices hidden inside their shoes that were connected to three accomplices who were sitting outside the examination centre.
The arrested individuals were identified as Narender Kumar, Darshan Sehwag, Sumit Sehwag, Laxmi Narayan, Amar, Narender Kumar and Bunti Kumar, all residents of Haryana.
As per the modus operandi, candidates visited the washroom, inserted the devices into their ears, and activated them. As they verbally leaked the questions, the solvers sitting outside dictated answers through the connected devices.
Officials at the examination centre reportedly got suspicious and informed the police.
