Gurugram school chairman held for fake CBSE affiliation

The Gurugram police have arrested chairman of Educrest International School for defrauding students by citing fake CBSE affiliation. Eleven students of Class X could not appear for maths exam as they didn’t received their admit cards. Later, an FIR was registered against the school management on February 18.

A complainant whose daughter had to appear in Class X board exams claimed that at the time of admission, the school management claimed to be affiliated with the CBSE. He claimed that the school regularly charged various fees, including tuition, building fund, examination and computer charges. However, she was not issued an admit card for the board exams.

Later, the complainant found that the school was neither affiliated with the CBSE nor accredited. The registration number provided was also incorrect.

Following the complaint, an FIR was registered against school chairman Vinay Kataria, principal Riddhima Kataria, vice- principal Simar Batra, coordinator Sonia and other staffers under Sections 318(4), 316(2), and 3(5) of the BNS at the Sector 9 A police station. The police arrested Vinay Kataria (38) on Friday.

“The accused revealed he had been running the school for the past eight years and his institute was accredited by the CBSE up to Class VIII. He presented a bogus Class X accreditation to 25 students,” said a police spokesperson.
