Upholding its commitment to ‘Housing for All’, the Haryana Government has proposed the construction of 23,154 new houses across the state under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Gramin (PMAY-G) in the 2026-27 state budget presented by Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini. The scheme aims to ensure that every eligible family has access to safe and permanent housing equipped with basic amenities.

Highlighting the government’s major housing initiatives, the CM said that under PMAY-Urban, 8,145 under-construction houses would be completed during the fiscal year 2026-27. Additionally, financial assistance of Rs 500 crore will be provided to 20,000 economically weaker families under PMAY-Urban 2.0 to help them construct pucca houses.

In a move to expand urban housing, 15,251 plots of 30 square yards will be allotted across 16 cities under the Mukhyamantri Shehri Awas Yojana. Furthermore, 8,000 EWS flats will be allotted among poor families in Faridabad, Gurugram, Jhajjar, Palwal, Panipat, Rohtak and Rewari.

For rural areas, the Mukhyamantri Gramin Awas Yojana 2.0 will provide 5,000 plots of 50 and 100 square yards in five mahagrams and 157 small villages to needy families. The budget also includes provisions for basic infrastructure — paved roads, drinking water and electricity — for the 100-square-yard plots allotted last year.

Commenting on the financial allocations, the CM stated that the revised estimates of Rs 1,840.29 crore for 2025-26 would be increased by 31.74 per cent to Rs 2,424.39 crore for 2026-27 to support these housing initiatives.

“To provide home-based care and basic medical assistance to senior citizens, 1,000 elderly caregivers will be trained. Senior Citizen Welfare Clubs will also be established. Taking the problem of drug addiction seriously, a Centre of Excellence for de-addiction will be established through a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model, which will reintegrate drug-affected individuals into the mainstream,” he added.

The CM further maintained that on September 25, 2025, on the birth anniversary of Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya, the Lado Lakshmi Scheme was launched in his name. Under this scheme, monthly assistance of Rs 2,100 is provided to women aged 23 years and above whose annual family income is less than Rs 1 lakh. To date, an amount of Rs 634 crore has been deposited in four instalments into the accounts of 9,22,452 beneficiaries.

“This scheme has lifted 13,602 families above the annual income bracket of less than Rs 25,000. A total of 1,53,284 families have moved beyond the Rs 25,000 to Rs 50,000 category; and 3,23,236 families have moved from the Rs 50,000 to Rs 75,000 category to Rs 75,000 to Rs 1 lakh annual income category. Similarly, the annual income of 4,94,998 families has exceeded Rs 1 lakh,” Saini added.

The CM clarified that none of them have been deprived of existing benefits such as Happy Card, free ration, etc.

“There is no limit on the number of eligible women in a family who can receive benefits under this scheme. Today, 54,785 families in the state have two women beneficiaries, 6,330 families have three, and 521 families have four women beneficiaries,” Saini said.
