Govt approves leasing of 45 acres for agriculture college in Yamunanagar

Paving the way for the establishment of an agriculture college in Kishanpura village, the Haryana Government has approved the lease of 45 acres of panchayat land for 33 years.

The college will be set up under Chaudhary Charan Singh Haryana Agricultural University (CCSHAU), Hisar, and is expected to provide local youth access to higher agricultural education within Yamunanagar district. Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini had announced the project last year.

According to official information, the Development and Panchayat Department cleared the proposal following a request from the Kishanpura gram panchayat, recommendations by the Deputy Commissioner and detailed deliberations at the departmental level.

Deputy Commissioner Preeti issued a letter in January 2026 to the BDPO, Pratap Nagar, stating that approval had been granted to lease the land to CCSHAU for 33 years at a nominal rate of Re 1 per acre annually. She directed that the lease deed formalities be completed at the earliest and a copy submitted to her office.

Acting on the directions, BDPO Abhishek wrote to the sarpanch of Kishanpura to expedite the registration process.

“I have written to the gram panchayat to get the lease deed registered. The gram panchayat has some demands in exchange for the land, which have been sent to the authorities of the Chaudhary Charan Singh Agricultural University, Hisar,” said BDPO Abhishek.

Residents have welcomed the move. Joginder Singh of Devdhar village termed it a positive step. “With the opening of the Agricultural College, students from Yamunanagar district and surrounding areas will no longer have to travel to Hisar or other areas to pursue higher education in agricultural subjects,” he said.
