Rewari, June 28
Aspirants for government jobs and students preparing to get admission in professional courses are finding themselves in a tight spot as the coaching centres in Rewari and Mahendragarh have remained closed for the past one week, while several written tests for government jobs, including for the Indian Air Force (IAF) under the Agnipath scheme, and entrance exams for medical and other courses, are scheduled to be conducted next month.

The district authorities had, on June 21, issued orders for the closure of private academies and coaching centres running for the preparation of various examinations/training for government jobs till further orders in view of the protests by youngsters against the Agnipath scheme.
The orders were issued by the Deputy Commissioner in exercise of the powers conferred by Section 144 of the CrPC, 1973.
“The exam for women for the IAF under the Agnipath scheme is scheduled on July 24. Since the concept is new to us, hence private coaching is needed for that, but the coaching centres are lying closed for the past one week. I am worried a lot, as I do not want to let this opportunity go in vain,” said Rakha, an undergraduate student.
She said many aspirants could not do preparations for the exams for the past week. “We are daily contacting our coaching centre in charge for the classes, but he shows his helplessness for the same following the closure orders,” she added.
Rockey, another aspirant, said, “Merely a handful of youths are protesting the Agnipath scheme, hence it is not logical to stop other aspirants from getting coaching for the competitive exams by closing the academies and coaching centres. The closure orders should be cancelled with immediate effect so that aspirants could prepare for exams in a good manner.”
Vinay, in charge of a coaching centre, said they were daily receiving a large number of calls from parents who were mounting pressure on them to resume classes while citing fees. “Over six exams for government jobs and academic courses are slated in July, hence the authorities should allow the centres to open as there is now no protest against the Agnipath scheme in the region,” he added.
Ashok Garg, Deputy Commissioner, Rewari, said orders for the closure of the coaching centres were still in existence.
