Haryana Cabinet Minister Anil Vij on Tuesday said that the state government has approved land lease from the Railways for the construction of a proposed new road from Rangiya Mandi to the national highway in Ambala Cantonment.
He also said that approval has been granted to transfer land from the municipal council to the Transport Department for establishing a driving training and research institute (IDTR) and an automated vehicle testing station (ATS) in Shahpur, Ambala Cantonment.
Vij said that with approvals in place for both projects, work will now be expedited for the construction of the road as well as the establishment of the IDTR and ATS.
The proposed road from Rangiya Mandi to the national highway will provide direct connectivity from the main Sadar Bazaar and Mahesh Nagar areas of the cantonment, benefiting commuters. As per the plan, the road will be approximately 550 metres long and 10 metres wide, extending from the Rangiya Mandi overbridge to the national highway. It will be constructed alongside the dedicated railway freight corridor.
Vij further added that the IDTR and ATS in Shahpur will be developed on around 13 acres of land, for which Rs 11.49 crore has already been approved by the state government.
He added that the establishment of the institute will generate employment opportunities for hundreds of people, both directly and indirectly, and will also help enhance the skills of thousands of trained youth.
