Haryana gurdwara panel chief holds executive body meeting in Kurukshetra
Appeals judicial commission to allow capital expenditure
After cancelling back-to-back executive body and General House meetings last month, the Haryana Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee president, Jagdish Singh Jhinda, held an executive body meeting here on Monday.
“An executive body meeting was held, in which 68 agenda items related to development works, educational institutes, employees and expansion of gurdwaras were discussed, and most of them were approved. Of 11 executive body members, seven were present, completing the quorum," he said.
However, the committee needs approval from the Haryana Sikh Gurdwara Judicial Commission, as it had restricted the committee from making any capital expenditure from the funds, except for routine expenses. Jhinda said, “We request the commission to allow the committee to make the expenditure so that development works can be executed.”
HSGMC member Harmanpreet Singh, who also attended the meeting, said, “Though it was an executive body meeting, the president had invited some committee members to offer suggestions on certain issues and projects.”
Meanwhile, HSGMC senior vice president, Gurmeet Singh, who had approached the commission challenging the budget meeting’s legitimacy, said, “We had no idea about the executive body meeting and the decisions made. The committee can’t make any capital expenditure as the case related to the legitimacy of the budget meeting, held on January 7, is still pending in the judicial commission. The matter will be heard by the commission on March 11.”
