Gurugram banker Mehak was killed with scissor, claim police
Husband reveals during interrogation that he brought the scissors specifically to commit the crime and wore gloves to avoid leaving evidence
The preliminary investigation into the murder of Gurugram banker Mehak of Hansi has revealed that she was killed using scissors, and her husband, the accused, allegedly tried to mislead the police by presenting the incident as a robbery.
Inspector Suresh Kumar, SHO of Badli Police Station, told the media on Tuesday that during interrogation, the accused, Anshul Dhawan of Hisar, admitted that he had brought the scissors specifically to commit the crime. He had also worn gloves to avoid leaving evidence. He even attempted to mislead the police by portraying the incident as robbery,” the SHO added.
“Mehak’s body was found near a drain in Pahsor village, while the car they used to travel to the spot from Hisar was recovered from another place. During questioning, Anshul eventually confessed to the crime,” said the SHO, noting that the exact cause of death would be confirmed after the post-mortem report.
He further stated that Anshul had suspicions about Mehak’s character, believing she used to talk to her colleagues at the bank. “Further investigation into the case is under way,” he added.
The accused in police custody.
The district police said Mehak was employed at a private bank in Gurugram, where her husband Anshul also worked as a chartered accountant.
Mehak and Anshul had been married for just over four months. On Monday, the police arrested Anshul in connection with her murder.
Mehak’s brother Akshay of Hansi in the police complaint stated the incident occurred on the night of February 15.
“The couple had left for Gurugram from Hisar on February 15 in their car in the evening. Around 10:32 pm, we got a call from Anshul’s father informing us that the couple had met with an accident. When we reached the spot, they found Mehak lying in a drain with deep injury marks on her neck caused by a sharp-edged weapon, while the car was parked nearby,” said the complainant.
He alleged that Anshul used to raise doubts over Mehak’s character and frequently harassed her. He further alleged that the accused had earlier threatened to kill her.
