Upon arrival, the minister was received by officials and members of the Market Committee Association. He directed officials of the Market Committee and procurement agencies to expedite the lifting of procured wheat.
Assuring farmers, Rana said every grain of their produce would be purchased at the Minimum Support Price (MSP), and they would not face any difficulty in selling their crop.
Referring to Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini, Rana said the government was closely monitoring procurement operations. “As per the Chief Minister’s directions, ministers and MLAs are regularly visiting grain markets to address farmers’ concerns, including portal-related issues,” he said.
The minister inspected wheat stocks at the market and reviewed moisture-checking processes using machines. He also interacted with farmers, commission agents and officials involved in procurement.
Rana said procurement operations were running smoothly across the state. However, in view of the heavy arrival of wheat, he instructed officials to speed up lifting operations to prevent inconvenience to farmers.
He also urged farmers and commission agents to work in coordination with the administration to ensure smooth procurement and lifting.
Emphasising facilities, the minister directed officials to ensure the availability of drinking water, sanitation, toilets and electricity in grain markets. He reiterated that procurement would be carried out as per government norms at MSP.
